Mr. Josh–continued

December 26, 2010

It happened December 22, 2010! And it was so #31, Mr. Josh. I cannot believe fun with 31 helped me meet such an amazing, wonderful man who is perfect for me!! And how thankful I am that it did!

Mr. Josh and I were up in SLC driving around when he asked if I was hungry. He wanted to get Subway and hot chocolate and drive up Millcreek Canyon and have a “Subaru Picnic”. So, that’s what we did. It was beautiful, tons of fresh snow. We bundled up in the back of the Subaru with the back open so we could see out. When we were done we were cuddling and all that and Josh said, “Oh, I forgot something” that is when he pulled the ring out of his secret Subaru compartment. Of course, I started crying. He said, “This has been a little adventure, but I was wondering if you would go on a big adventure with me.” He then put the ring on and said, “Janelle Baugh will you be Janelle Willis?” And of course I said “YES”. Through a flood of tears! The ring was beautiful, so shiny in the sunlight. Josh was afraid it wouldn’t fit, but it was a perfect fit and felt like it always belonged there.

The drive home could be my favorite part. It was sweet and humble. We vowed to stay “in love” and tender with each other. I waited so long for Mr. Josh, I don’t want to EVER {EVER} take him for granted! We talked of fears of the unknown.  My heart was full and I had to gain composure before any comment I made. I just remember feeling so many emotions from exhilaration to nerves, but I felt a sense of security I have never felt before.

I can’t believe it actually happened. I AM GETTING MARRIED!! And he’s adorable and valiant and I love HIM! 🙂 Definitely worth the wait!!

“This has been a little adventure, but I was wondering if you would go on a big adventure with me?”

Mr. Josh and I have been dating since funwith31. On our third date, while he was driving me to the airport he asked if I had done a long distance dating before. I said I hadn’t. I ask him if he had, he also hadn’t, but he followed it up with a great comment. He said, “I like to look at it as a fun adventure”. And so the adventure began…and it hasn’t stopped yet! Josh is everything I was looking for that I didn’t think was out there any longer (at least within my age range)! At the same time he is completely different than any other guy I’ve ever dated. He’s everything I needed, but didn’t know I did. I have had so much fun with Josh over this past year and a half, I can’t even attempt to describe it. But how thankful I am that I was willing to listen to a VERY dear friend and take a risk. How thankful I am that Josh was willing to step out of his comfort zone and risk. On our date he gave me this poem.

To laugh is to risk appearing the fool.
To weep is to risk appearing sentimental.
To reach out for another is to risk involvement.
…To expose feelings is to risk exposing your true self.
To place your ideas, your dreams, before a crowd is to risk their loss.

To love is to risk not being loved in return.
To live is to risk dying.
To hope is to risk despair.
To try is to risk failure.

But risks must be taken, because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing.

The person who risks nothing, does nothing, has nothing, and is nothing.
They may avoid suffering and sorrow, but they cannot learn, feel, change, grow, love, live.
Chained by their attitudes, they are a slave, they have forfeited their freedom.
Only a person who risks is free

I would’ve never guessed the scrupulous foreshadowing this was on our entire relationship. I’ve learned so much about myself and relationships during this time, and I am so thankful to have learned it with Josh. And there is absolutely NO ONE else out there that I would want to risk love and marriage with than with Josh.

I LOVE that I am still having fun with #31 and I get to for eternity!!
